OFFICIAL STATEMENT
TOP WON’T DROP (TWD) MOURNS THE LOSS OF KEBABALLETSOE KEBBA PHALIMA
In loving memory of Madikengkeng from DON GULUVA Seasons 1 & 2.
TOP WON’T DROP (TWD) expresses its profound sadness following the passing of Kebaballetsoe Kebba Phalima, known to audiences as Madikengkeng in DON GULUVA Seasons 1 and 2.
It is difficult to find words adequate enough to express the weight of this loss. Some people enter our lives through the stories we create, but with time, they become part of the history we carry. Kebba was one of those people. Through her contribution to DON GULUVA, she became part of a creative journey that will forever remain a chapter in the history of TOP WON’T DROP.
Today, we are confronted with a painful reality: behind every character is a human being, behind every performance is a life, and behind every familiar face is a family whose love extends far beyond the screen.
Kebba was more than a character in our production. She was a person with a life beyond the cameras, a future beyond the scenes she performed, and chapters yet to be written. It is the thought of all that remained possible that makes this loss especially difficult to comprehend.
The circumstances surrounding her passing have brought profound sadness to those who knew her and those who followed her journey. No human being should be reduced to the manner in which their story ends. Today, our foremost responsibility is to honour Kebba's life, uphold her dignity, and remember the contribution she made while she was here.
We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, loved ones, fellow creatives, and everyone affected by this devastating loss. We recognise the family's need for privacy during this difficult period and ask the public to approach them with compassion, sensitivity, and respect.
To the brother and family who are carrying a pain that no public statement can adequately address, please know that Kebba's contribution to our production will not be forgotten. We respect your space and extend our sincere condolences without placing any expectation on you to respond.
At TOP WON’T DROP, we believe that stories have the power to preserve memories long after a scene has ended. The cameras may stop rolling, the production may move forward, and the credits may fade, but the people who helped build our stories remain part of them.
Madikengkeng will forever be part of the DON GULUVA legacy. Kebaballetsoe Kebba Phalima will forever be part of the TWD story.
May her memory be honoured with dignity. May her loved ones find strength in the support surrounding them, and may her life be remembered for more than the tragedy of her passing.
Rest peacefully, Kebba. Your time with us was a chapter we will always carry. 🕊️
