Whatever your sound, Beatlab and M***a FM want to hear it.
Every month, five Beatlab members are selected to broadcast a one-hour mix on M***a FM. This isn't a competition for one genre or one style. It's a platform built to carry the full range of electronic music being created across the continent, and to give the people behind it the audience they deserve.
Selected DJs receive the broadcast slot, a Beatlab interview feature, social amplification, a Featured on Radio badge, and priority consideration for future events and label introductions. Membership is free. The submission is a one-hour WAV file, your DJ details, and a short description of your mix.

"All I can say to a fellow Beatlab member is just submit. You have nothing to lose but everything to gain." The Real Phatsoul, Beatlab x M***a FM Featured DJ
The Real Phatsoul submitted his mix. It aired on M***a FM. The listener response was the validation he needed: proof that the groove he grooves is legit.
Every month, five Beatlab members earn that same slot. One hour on air, a Beatlab interview feature, social amplification across our channels, and a Featured on Radio badge on their profile, plus priority consideration for events, label introductions, and future opportunities on the platform.
Membership is free. The submission is a one-hour WAV file, your DJ details, and a short description of your mix. Accepted genres include afro house, deep house, amapiano, psy trance, tech house, hard techno, melodic, uplifting trance, and more.
The people who got the last slots showed up. The next five are open now.

“As part of the first generation of hip-hop practitioners in South Africa, we had no blueprint. No internet, no instant access, just trial and error, VHS tapes, and whatever information we could find. Touring allowed us to witness the craft at a much higher level and absorb it in real time.
All of those experiences shaped how I approach my work today. It gave me a global outlook, but also reinforced the importance of authenticity. It taught me that music is not just performance: it’s purpose, perspective, and connection.”

This is what a bio looks like when the work has been done.
"On the outskirts of Durban, two sounds grew up side by side that had no business belonging together. One was gqom: hard, percussive, built from the city's concrete and heat. The other was gospel: patient, weighted, music that knows how to hold still. Siya Dlamini grew up between them, and he never chose a side."
Siya Dlamini is a fictional artist. That opening is from a bio produced using AI, built from the preparation work covered across a five-part series we published on Beatlab.
The same tool, given a weak prompt to write the same artist's bio, invented track names, a management email, and workshops that never happened.
The difference is not the tool. It is what you bring to it.
"Know Yourself, Tell Your Story" is complete and free to read on Beatlab. Five parts. Six practical exercises. A bio system you can build and use today. From understanding what your bio is actually for, to finding your artist identity, to structuring the work, to filtering out what does not belong, to briefing an AI tool so the output is something you would actually want attached to your name.

We gave an AI tool a weak prompt to write an artist bio.
One of the tools produced something generic. Structured, grammatically clean, and completely indistinguishable from a thousand other bios written by a thousand other artists who did exactly the same thing.
Useless, but at least not dangerous.
The other tool fabricated. Track names that do not exist. A management email address. Production workshops that were never mentioned anywhere in the prompt. The output looked plausible at a glance, which is precisely the problem. An artist who published it without reading carefully would be claiming credits they do not have, in a scene as connected as South African electronic music, where that kind of thing travels faster than most people expect.
A weak prompt does not just produce generic output. It can produce invented output. Those two failure modes are not equally recoverable.

Know yourself, tell your story: Part 5 of our series shows exactly what the difference looks like: the same artist, the same tools, a weak prompt and a strong one, side by side. The strong prompt is built from the preparation work in Parts 1 through 4. Which is precisely why those parts exist.

“37MPH is more than a name: it’s a philosophy I live by. It stands for Spirit, Soul, and Body, seven days a week. That idea of alignment is very important to me, because creativity, at least the kind I’m interested in, doesn’t come from just one place. It’s not just technical skill or inspiration: it’s how you live, how you think, how you take care of yourself, and how present you are.”
