ATM are back.
Today, as we celebrate the young people of South Africa, the architects of the African Trap Movement - Ruff, Sjava, Emtee and Saudi - surprised the nation with a brand new project, “The Trap Temptations”.
It’s a reunion that marks more than a decade of this timeless collective’s creative flow, a sound that defined an entire generation of hip hop eMzansi. Through its poets, ATM tells the stories of urban South Africa, of the street, of struggles, of family and community, and of hope.
“The Trap Temptations” is a clear maturation of the sound, the stories, and the artists themselves, a richly melodic evolution into softer Afro-soul and trap atmospheres, but retains the same sensibilities that made these young men to be so revered over 10 years ago.
It’s a throwback to an era that left an indelible mark on the culture — and proof that some legacies never really fade.
ATM’s back, but did it ever really leave our hearts?
