Gilded, pine and composite picture frame made by Hugh Paton, Edinburgh, c.1865. The frame is decorated with a low-relief pattern of ivy leaves and stems with a prominent, sinuous leaf-and-berry and rope corner detail. The inner and outer edges of the frame are decorated respectively with a running leaf pattern and ornamental beading. The maker’s label reads ‘HUGH PATON, Printers, Printseller and Picture Dealer, ARTISTS COLOURMEN, 9 PRINCES STREET, EDINBURGH. (Private Collection)
