The Pursuit of a Glimmer curated by Duduzile More and supported by the Austrian Cultural Forum is a Women’s Month group exhibition exploring reflection, resilience, and the moments of light that inspire transformation.
Austrian artist and s*x counselor Jessica Adams will be exhibiting alongside South African artists Yolanda Mazwana, Nwabisa Ntlokwana, Mummy Khumalo, Thato Tlatsi, Rina Noto and Lebogang Mabusela.
The exhibition is on show from 1 August to 28 September at Candice Berman Gallery - 223 Jan Smuts Ave, Rosebank, Johannesburg.
Join us for the opening event and Women’s Day activation on Saturday, 8 August or the pre-opening and panel conversation on Thursday, 6 August from 17:30–19:30 where artists and inspiring South African women will come together to explore how women can support, uplift, and shape a more self-determined future.
Jessica Adams
A s*x counsellor, educator and artist whose practice explores desire, pleasure and s*xual embodiment, creating space for bold, necessary conversations about our relationship with ourselves and each other.
Lebogang Mabusela
A multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans printmaking, papermaking and artist’s books, exploring language, gender and the systems that shape everyday life.
Mummy Khumalo
Working across painting, collage and printmaking, Khumalo creates deeply spiritual works that celebrate womanhood, ancestral presence and the life-giving power of water.
Rina Noto
Working across ceramics, drawing and installation, Noto investigates motherhood, memory and the maternal body as a landscape of belonging, labour and transformation.
Thato Tlatsi
A multidisciplinary artist whose collage practice examines intimacy, s*xuality and the female body as a site of power, vulnerability and resistance.
Yolanda Mazwana
A self-taught painter whose expressive works explore mental health, trauma and the emotional landscapes of contemporary womanhood.
