The International Dance Organization has launched a global safeguarding initiative dedicated to strengthening the protection, wellbeing, and rights of dancers across the international dance community.

Safeguarding is a fundamental responsibility within IDO competitions, activities, and educational programs. Every dancer has the right to train, compete, and grow in a safe and respectful environment.

To support this commitment, IDO has introduced a safeguarding structure led by experienced professionals.

Safeguarding education and awareness initiatives are guided by Rachel Jackson, safeguarding specialist and educator, who contributes to safeguarding knowledge through seminars and educational programs.

Operational safeguarding responsibilities are overseen by Wendy Baker, IDO Safeguarding Officer, responsible for safeguarding procedures, reporting mechanisms, and guidance in safeguarding-related situations.

The safeguarding initiative also provides educational resources and reporting channels through the official safeguarding platform.

Dr. Velibor Srdić, President of IDO, stated:

“Safeguarding is not only a policy but a responsibility shared by the entire dance community. Our goal is to ensure that every dancer can participate in dance in an environment built on respect, safety, and trust.”

Every dancer matters.
