The truth is, I don't see myself in the same image everyday. I like myself, sometimes I don't. I celebrate my wins and sometimes I don't (when I need to). But at the end of each reflection, self-love is embraced and allowance is given to what I was able to do in a day.

Message to self? No pressure! Take your time to digest, learn and apply within my capabilities.

Growing up, I'm realising the importance of self-validation and the responsibility that you have for your radiance. Ba ba go ratang can only take you as far mara mmereko o monxhi o sala lwena!🌸

I'm guilty of a trait that I'm letting go of (surely) and that's being expectant of my loved ones to know what I'm thinking and feeling (because it seems so obvious right?!) When I'm in my dystopic moments and these feelings can last for days if I'm not released with a 'Amo o shapo?'... I'm realising it's toxicity and I'm releasing myself from it.🌊

Self-validating routines/behaviours/interests? For me it's doing what speaks to me the most.
Mmino, ho bina, ho opela, ho tsheha, ho robala, Botaki ba mofutafuta, ho tsamaya ka maoto, ho didimala, ho bolela, tlhago, Bana, ho I boka, travelling, ho ngwala, di poloholo, dry wine mo hare ha beke, SA funny skits (truly)...ke tse dinxhi nyana.

All I am saying is Os'kai tebala! You matter. You could use so much of your radiance. Don't be your own enemy.

Rest isn't only a privilege but a necessity! Rest is genderless, rest is an essential need.
Blatantly said, black men are continue to be cornered, barricaded and pressurised on a constant. Burdened with societal pressures, expectations and hourly demands, there's no real rest. One example of this which I am constantly faced with is seeing many many men (mind you, husbands and fathers) lined up at the 'market' waiting for underpaid labour Sunday to Sunday.

My prayer through this piece is for men to find comfort in rest, to prioritize it and add it to their balanced lives. I pray that self-care becomes a part of you. I pray that your God, angels and ancestors help you in navigating your best self that's well served with the understanding of what you do in a day is more than enough. I pray that you find a release from this overload so you may shed off misconceptions of who and what you're supposed to be. I pray that you get acknowledged, thanked and hugged for all your efforts.

The All Seeing

The state of permanent euphoria (I think) is possible as you remain a child within your emotions, imagination and openness to new things.
Be light as a feather, be a leader or part of a wolf pack, be as deeply rooted as the old trees living amongst us as a reminder of our ancestral movements and expansions. Be broad-shouldered to accommodate the self, your family and those that choose to stand with you.

May the journey of self discovery continue to pour into all your experiences. May it enlighten you into the best versions of yourself. May you find comfort, wisdom and guidance from within and nature with the acknowledgement of its power to see and know all.

My declaration? I am the greatest, I am celestial and I am deeply within my knowing. I will continue to see greatness within humanity despite the long road that we're still walking on. The truth is that we are beyond what we think we know and we'll continue to open each others' eyes through awakening interactions.

Here's to the truth. To power. To fearlessness. To our collective re-imagination of blackness!
