I read somewhere some time ago that to be able to become excellent with something a person needs to spend 10 000 hours on that specific subject. I did a calculation and cant remember the answer I got. I vaguely remember quite a few years and some amount of daily hours to be spent on the specific subject. I didnt keep track of time spent on my subject, but I think I exceeded 10 000 hours by now. I realised that it takes more than a lifetime to become an excellent artist. Yes I learnt a lot about art over a period of 40 years but this is a massive subject to learn. The best I can do now is to try and teach people simple things about art that will make their progress easier and faster.
