The Choral Music Calendar is up and running. Take advantage of this opportunity to submit your events as we work towards better collaboration and scheduling

As we build a centralised Calender for the choral community, this tool is more than just a schedule, it’s a shared platform to connect, grow, and elevate the industry. For it to work effectively, we all have a role to play.

Here’s a simple guide on how to use and contribute to the calendar:

DO:
✅
Submit your evebt atleast two months in advance.
✅ Check the calendar regularly to stay updated on upcoming events
✅ Submit events with accurate and complete details (date, time, venue, programme, ticket info)
✅ Report any incorrect or outdated information
✅ (Long-term) Use the calendar to plan your choral activities and commitments

DONT:
❎ Misuse the platform for unrelated advertising
❎ Share unverified or incorrect information
❎ Post duplicate events or spam

The Calender will be updated on the 1st of every Month and shared on this platform.

Yesterday, 20 April, we paused to honour and celebrate the life of Patrick Jonathan Simelane a visionary whose legacy continues to echo through choral music in South Africa and beyond.

Born in Roodepoort in 1924, PJ Simelane’s journey was one of resilience, dedication, and deep musical passion. From humble beginnings to becoming a respected educator, principal, and composer, he shaped generations through both the classroom and the choir stage. His commitment to music education and his contribution to choral tradition remain a lasting gift to us all.

As we remember him, we also celebrate the enduring power of music to connect, uplift, and inspire a truth he lived out so faithfully.

May his legacy continue to resonate in every voice raised in song.

B Sharp Music Academy and Choral Music Indaba is in attendance to support the UP Symphonic Winds conducted by Lesedi Sibanda. Being in attendance, we are reminded that the choral and operatic arts should continue to unite voices, stories, and hearts across every boundary. In every harmony and every note, there is a promise, that the arts will always connect us, uplift us, and carry us forward.
