Hey all!
This year has been crazy. So much happening at once, so this is just a post to let you all know what's going on.
Last year we did;
10+ noteworthy large events. Averaging 1 a month. These included among others Alchemy at Sundowners , WONDERboom at Chicago's Piano Bar - Randpark Ridge, Extreme Easter Fest 2024 , Chicago's Beerfest 2024, Speedofest 2024 at the Rusty Hook as well as the Chicago's Songwriter session final where LunÆ Lane won their first comp of the year and has since gone on to make a huge dent in the South African scene
A total of 60+ smaller sound gigs, DJs, one man band, duos and small show band setups, open mics etc
Second to Sunrise JHB Ross Codens cover project played at venues all over jhb and even took a trip down to Bierfassl Restaurant & Pub in KZN Midlands. We eventually took a break towards the end of the year being all burned out. However the band is back with a new lineup ready to kick it up a notch.
Going forward this year there is a big focus on pushing the small and mid sized, live music scene forward. There is so much undiscovered talent as well as smaller bands grafting to make themselves known. In the past we have primarily focused on Rock and dance music but this year we wish to expand to hip hop, country and even the heavier side as well as giving tributes of all genres an opportunity by lowering the sound fee to get starting bands a foot up.
We are hoping to achieve this through a strategy of talent scouting with vigorous vetting, open mics, mid sized events as well as opening doors with new venues across JHB.
So what's happening now?
Wednesdays: Jam Nights at Chicago's Randpark Ridge. Open to all musicians
Thursdays: Alternating every second week we have an open mic at Bourbon Barrel, Randburg. Check out Bourbon Barrel Bromhof: Open Mic Launch!
Fridays and Saturdays: Live gigs open at all venues
Sundays. First Sunday of every month Chicago's Acoustic Sundays: Launch day
Then alternating Sundays
