Country music legend Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80, her family announced on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. She reportedly died peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee. Parton leaves behind a career spanning nearly six decades, with iconic songs including "Jolene," "9 to 5," "Coat of Many Colors" and"| Will Always Love You." She sold more than 100 million records worldwide and won 11 Grammy Awards. Beyond music, the Tennessee-born star was an actress, businesswoman and major philanthropist. Her Imagination Library literacy programme has provided hundreds of millions of free books to children, while her business empire included the Dollywood theme park. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Her family has indicated that a private funeral service will be held for immediate family.

Five Ghanaian artistes have been nominated for Best West African Artiste of the Year at the 18th Headies Awards BLACKO , Lord KiDi , King Promise , MOLIY and STONEBWOY .
The recognition continues Ghana's strong presence at the Nigerian awards, with Black Sherif and King Promise returning to the category after earning nominations at the 17th Headies.
For KiDi, MOLIY and Stonebwoy, the nomination marks a new opportunity to make their mark on one of Africa's biggest music award platforms.
Ghana is well represented.
