Finally had some time to photograph the clay cottages. I have been making little clay cottages for ages, and never thought of turning them into Incense burners till I saw some on Instagram, and it worked so well !

Tried my hand at yarn bowls. Ai was caught a little short at the amount if shrinkage so these three would work for small round balls of yarn or crochet cotton. Approx 14 cm across.

Second attempt at a Frida Portrait using the Zorn pallet. Trying a more structures approach by drawing thumbnails before going onto the canvas. Teaching an old dog new tricks.

On the easel at the moment - I have to admit , i am struggling with this one - I decided to try a limited palette - and a loser style at the same time. Might not have been my brightest moment. A Frida for my sister , using the Zorn palette of yellow ochre, white ivory black and cadmium red. Been ready to throw in the towel a few times- tbh.

My family have a long and close relationship with strokes and brain damage. As a result , i have always been interested in the brain , and how it functions . When i started studying art therapy, i came across the concept of the brain being rewired through art , over and over again. Today , after a difficult discussion in the art class , i came across an article that explains it wayyyyyy better than I can.

A Dartmouth-led study shows that the brains of young adults reorganize as they learn to create visual art. In other words, taking an art course rewires your brain.
