Meet Doctor Louise Lansdown organiser and artist of Kaleidoscope Music & Arts Festival

The ARCO Project is a registered non-profit company (NPC) that delivers free weekly music lessons to 110 early years and primary school students (age 4-13) on violin, viola, cello and double bass in Prince Albert.

ARCO collaborates with the Prince Albert Community Trust (PACT) and through this the ARCO-PACT Project saw the light.

The Kaleidoscope Music & Arts Festival is taking place in the beautiful town of Prince Albert next weekend!

The closing concert of the Kaleidoscope Music & Arts Festival brings together a distinguished, intergenerational ensemble: David Bester (violin), Louise Lansdown (viola), Sifiso Mbatha (cello), Anthony Alcock (double bass), and Chanda Bupe Lupambo (piano). Mbatha and Lupambo, both still in training, perform alongside established artists, continuing the festivalโ€™s defining side-by-side ethos of mentorship and collaboration.

The programme traverses a rich musical landscape, from the introspective textures of Arthur Federโ€™s The Silent Corners and Amneusis and Remembrance on the Bridge, to the playful ingenuity of Paul Hindemithโ€™s Musikalisches Blumengรคrtlein und Leyptziger Allerley. Solo reflection emerges in Giovanni Sollimaโ€™s Lamentatio, while the viola is further illuminated in works by William Henry Bell and Walter Swanson. The concert culminates in the Piano Quintet by Peter Klatzow, bringing the festival to a resonant and compelling close.

Drawing together ensembles from Grey High School, the Frank Pietersen Music Centre, Rustenburg High School, and the ARCO-PACT Strings Project, the programme unfolds as a dynamic meeting of voices โ€“ where improvisation, energy, and collective sound create something far greater than the sum of its parts.
