The Royalty Pact Debate Academy and Gauteng Debate, in collaboration with University of Pretoria Debating Union are proud to invite applications for Deputy Chief Adjudicators for the 1st edition of the Africa World Schools Debate Championships (AWSDC).
We are turning our sights toward hosting this inaugural edition with the eagerness to apply our accumulated experience to create the most ideal tournament possible. As we aim to make this a world-class event, we are looking for experienced and dedicated individuals to join our adjudication core.

- Dates: 27 March to 2 April 2026.
- Host City: Pretoria, South Africa.
- Host Venue: University of Pretoria, Hatfield Campus.
- Format: World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC) Format.

We are looking for high-quality adjudicators to ensure the best possible experience for all participating teams.

Tournament Details:
- Dates: 27 March to 2 April 2026.

- Format: World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC) Format.

Important Note on Remuneration:
Funding and remuneration for Independent Adjudicators will be strictly performance-based. The outcome of this application test, combined with your judging track record, will determine the tier of funding/remuneration offered.

We are excited to announce the Chief Adjudication Panel for the first Edition of Africa World Schools Debating Championships.

Details:
📅 Dates: 27th March - 2nd April 2026
🗓️ Registration Deadline: 10 January 2026
📍 Venue: University of Pretoria, South Africa
🏠 Host Organisations: RPDA & Gauteng Debate
⚖️Judge Rule: N = 0, we will provide judges.
🌐 CAP (Chief Adjudication Panel): Charity Makhala 🇧🇼 ; Providence Nhongo 🇿🇼 ; Michelle Adika 🇰🇪 ; Zion Van Wyk 🇿🇦

🏆 Format: World Schools Style (3v3, 1 hour preparation for impromptu debates, 8 minute speeches & 4 minute replies)

✅2 rounds will be prepared debates and All other rounds will be impromptu debates, prep time is 60 minutes after motion release.

✅All other rules remain the same as per WSDC format (bit.ly/WSDCFormat)

🎓 Categories:
🗂️ Senior Category : Debaters doing forms 4 to 6 in 2026 or grades 10 to 12.

🗂️Junior Category : Debaters doing forms 1 to 3 or grades 8 & 9 will be considered Juniors.

💰 Fees:
$200 per school - School Registration Fee (this fee is paid upfront to confirm your school registration)

$150 per participant - this fee is paid per participant and will cover tournament costs and lunch.
