HELD BY POSSIBILITIES

Some paintings begin with an image. Others begin with a question.

Held by Possibilities came from thinking about everything we carry with us, the choices we make, the things we fear, and all the possibilities that exist beyond what we can see.

Sometimes we feel trapped by our circumstances. Sometimes we are held back by our own doubts. And sometimes, strangely enough, it is the possibilities themselves that hold us in place.

This painting is about that moment between where you are and where you could be.

The uncertainty.
The hope.
The fear.
The possibility of becoming something more.

A Fragile Balance

Sometimes we carry more than we realise.

A tiny chair. A heavy body. A delicate moment between holding on and letting go.

For me, this piece is about vulnerability, pressure, and the strange beauty of trying to keep everything together when the balance feels almost impossible.

We all have our own fragile balance.

Somewhere between falling and rising, there is a moment where everything is still possible.

Held by Possibility explores vulnerability, freedom and the uncertainty of becoming. A figure suspended in mid-air, stripped of the roles and identities we use to define ourselves, reaches toward a fragmented world of colour, memory, dreams and possibility.

Is he falling? Rising? Holding on? Letting go?

Maybe the answer matters less than the moment itself.

Deep teal and blue collide with flashes of yellow, red, orange and violet, while vertical marks pull the painting downward like rain — keeping everything in motion.

Because possibility is rarely comfortable.

Sometimes we simply have to reach toward what might be there.

This is an original JAN artwork, created as a one-of-a-kind piece for a collector who wants something more than decoration — a work with emotion, movement and a story that continues to reveal itself.

A fragile balance.

How much weight can we carry before something gives way?

A Fragile Balance explores the uneasy space between control and vulnerability. At the centre of the painting, a man sits heavily on a chair that appears almost impossibly small beneath him.

The chair becomes more than just an object. It represents the things we rely on to hold us up — stability, control, expectations and the structures we build around ourselves.

But how long can something remain balanced when the weight becomes too great?

Then there is the bee.

Small. Almost insignificant.

Yet impossible to ignore.

Perhaps it represents hope. Luck. Possibility. A dream. Or perhaps it represents fear and uncertainty.

Maybe it is all of those things.

Because even when fear feels overwhelming, hope does not need to be large to matter.

A Fragile Balance is about more than physical weight. It is about the fears we carry, the expectations we place on ourselves, and the delicate space between where we are and where we fear we might end up.
