Ricky Ricky was a big brother to us as the SA Hip-Hop community, when rappers like A Reece, J Molley, Frank Cassino, and other rappers in SA were going through the worst, Ricky came through for the ni**as, he was always there to pick up our youngins like a Big Brother should.
Ricky was always true to SA hip-hop; after Amantobazane became a hit, he released a remix of the song and went on to recruit almost the entire industry... artists like Cassper, Nadia, Ok malume Koolkat, Kwesta, Ginger Trill, and others were featured on that hit song, giving them exposure, fame, and recognition.
Ricky reached out to Reece and Mash when they were out in the cold after leaving ambitious entertainment and gave them a hand; they then released the hit song "Pick You Up," which was a huge success.
Ricky made an impact in the South African hip-hop scene, and he will never be forgotten. While we are saddened by Ricky's death, we are also mindful of the impact he had on our music industry. The King has taken a break and will return a stronger man. Ricky never died; instead, he multiplied. Ricky inspired us all, and his spirit therefore will live on.
