I am De Waal, proud owner of this initiative which was established in 2008. I am a professional drummer, I currently play for Bobby van Jaarsveld. I also play on an ad hoc basis for Ricus Nel, Appel, Afrikaan gaan Global, etc.

A good networking relationship was established over a few years working with various artists and companies in the industry. I decided to start my own company hiring out s

ound, lights, AV, Backline and staging, when I realised how difficult it is to acquire the right quality support when you put on a great show.

dW Audio and Backline expands into LED

DW Audio & Backline, led by De Waal Bothma, has taken the next step in their journey with an investment in LED, adding a new dimension to their offering.

Established in 2008, the team has built a strong reputation within the Afrikaans music scene and beyond, supporting artists and events with reliable technical solutions across sound, lighting, backline, AV, and staging.

This move into LED feels like a natural progression — strengthening their existing services while opening up new creative opportunities for the productions and clients they support.

Based in Pretoria, DW Audio & Backline continues to deliver across South Africa and neighbouring countries, and it’s great to see their offering evolve in a way that supports both their clients and the wider industry.

We’re grateful to be on this journey with De Waal and his team, and we look forward to what lies ahead.
