I’ve started something close to my heart 🤍🐇

Whimsy Rabbit is a little creative space where I turn my love for nature, colour, and everyday moments into designs for the home.

A lot of my inspiration comes from the world around me — flowers, textures, and even my own bunny, Suurlemoen 🐇🌿

Each design carries a small piece of my life, and it’s been so special bringing them to life.

I was inspired by these two masters, Gustav Klimt and Frida Kahlo.

Gustav Klimt and Frida Kahlo share several similarities in their artistic styles and subject matters. They both had a profound interest in depicting the human form and exploring themes of identity, femininity, and self-expression through their artworks.

While their backgrounds and cultural influences differ, it is undeniable that Frida Kahlo could have been a captivating topic for Gustav Klimt. Therefore, I have chosen one of Klimt’s notable works, ‘Judith and the Head of Holofernes’, painted in 1901.

In this painting, Kahlo is depicted here as the biblical character Judith, holding a decapitated head of her husband, Diego Rivera. This piece serves as a representation of Kahlo's struggle with her love and hate for Rivera, as well as her desire for independence and the ability to control her own destiny. The act of beheading can be seen as a metaphorical representation of her attempt to sever her emotions and attachments to Rivera.

Klimt's iconic painting featured elaborate patterns and symbols, which can be interpreted as expressions of human emotions and desires.

By portraying Kahlo into this specific artwork, I wanted to bring attention to her remarkable journey by empowering her further as an icon, merging Klimt’s unique style with Kahlo's powerful narrative and cultural significance.
