Welcome to my Art Adventure!🥳👩🎨🎨
My name is Annemie, and I am a contemporary South African artist. There are so many new people on my page, soI felt it was the perfect time to tell you a bit about myself :
I earned my degree in Graphic Design at University of Pretoria, but for nearly thirty years since then, my world was defined by the structure and blueprints of the construction industry. In 2019, after an accident and a very long recovery, I decided to take a leap of faith, leaving that career behind to answer a lifelong calling and commit to being a full-time artist.
I moved to Pretoria in 2023 and then built a studio where I can work from and showcase my work, that’s where my true art journey blossomed. Because of my curiosity, I’ve never been able to limit myself to just one medium. I love the physical challenge of bronze sculpture, the deliberate patience of hand-carved linocuts, and the expressive freedom of oil painting, charcoal, and embroidery.
At the core of my work is a deep love for storytelling. I use fables, myths, and parables to explore the complex dance of human behavior and social dynamics. You will definitely spot "Lapine" - my origami bunny muse and avatar - in most of my works. She serves as a quiet guide through themes of vulnerability and inner strength.
Thank you for stepping into my world. I hope to spread joy with my art, find a connection to touch people's lives, and inspire them.
