How I love going to art class every week! Chatting with my art buddies and seeing what they are up to artwise, being inspired by each other's work, collectively tapping the expertise of our lovely teacher and mentor, Corné van Eck, putting brush to canvas with the buzz of creativity humming in the background.

Would you like to see what we have been up to this year? Please join us for our annual exhibition. Entry is free and there will be drinks, snacks, live music and works for sale!

Would you like to peek into my studio?
I had the whole day to myself today.
Progress has been made.
I have had canvases on the kitchen table, some stacked on the sofa, and some lying on the paving outside, drying in the sun. All over the place really. The one on the easel is almost done. A few unsold ones hanging around, keeping me company.
I can't show you much as I'm saving the new work for an exhibition. You can just have a peek through the window. Enjoy!

Hi there!
I haven't posted in a while.
Life has been happening.
I'm back at my easel now. This is what I have been working on lately. More baobabs to come 🙂

Fun fact! I see that I have made 116 posts up to now, and I have 116 followers on Instagram. Which reminds me that I would like to thank each one of you for taking an interest in my work. Thank you for all the likes and comments and reshares and support. The next best thing to doing what I love is having someone else appreciate it!

I would also like to thank a collector of mine who has sent me a photo of some of my works acquired earlier this year, that have since found a place in their home. Patience, Chastity and Serenity were part of a collection of 12 succulents that were on show at the Easter Exhibition at Tina Skukan Gallery this past April. The three of them now brighten up a very calm and elegant interior, and I hope they bring their new owners much joy!

New work loading...
Painstaking work, drawing branches and twigs. Control and concentration. It needs to be just so, as every kind of tree has its own geometry. Working on my kitchen table, as I can't reach the top when sitting at my easel.

Thrilled that someone liked my collection of big trees so much that they bought six of them to display in their home!

"This is my favorite.. The most important pieces I make are those people decide they want to live with & see every day of their lives— the pieces they choose to collect— not just look at & walk away.

Nothing brings me more joy in art than people collecting artwork for their homes, their friend’s homes, their family’s homes etc.

When folks connect to my work on that level it touches something not much else does."

Following its recent sale, "African star chestnut" is now reunited with five of its siblings. I am delighted that six works out of a collection of eight big trees have found a home together! Many thanks to my lovely collector.

This one found a home 😊

Sold. May it bring its new owner as much joy as I felt watching these showers of mercy coming down on the arid Northern Cape veldt!

Landscapes, skyscapes, cloudscapes. Call them what you will, I love making them. This is the third one I made in this panoramic format.

I remember the day I took the photo on which this one is based so clearly. We had been in Zambia for a week by then and the memory of the bone-dry Botswana pans were still fresh. We were traversing the Liuwa floodplain en route from Katoyana to Mukalabumbu, two pairs of mzungu in Cruiser rigs slowly bouncing along the rutted tracks. The second-largest wildebeest migration in Africa was in full swing. Hundreds of rock pratincoles wheeling in the air, gorging themselves on flying insects. No signposts, no man-made structures as far as the eye can see all around. Huge banks of rainclouds stacked up, intermittently spilling their precious cargo as they slowly drift southwest.
