SPRING.
There is something profoundly honest about the first day of spring.
The earth does not suddenly wake up because the calendar says 1 September. Long before we see the first green shoot, something has already been happening beneath the surface. In the dark. In the quiet. Where nobody could see it.
A seed was breaking open.
And perhaps that is what we sometimes forget about growth: before there can be new life, something has to surrender the safety of what it was.
This year, Palissander has lived very close to that truth.
Our programme, The Seeds That We Sow, began as music, but somewhere along the road it became much more than that. It became a journey through the things we leave behind in one another. The words we speak. The love we give. The wounds we carry. The courage it takes to begin again. The legacy of a life. The responsibility of knowing that, every day, we are planting something.
We carried these seeds across borders this year.
We sowed them in ancient churches and unfamiliar places. In France. In Spain. Beneath the extraordinary arches of Notre-Dame, in Montserrat, and under the impossible beauty of the Sagrada Família.
But perhaps the greatest lesson of the journey was this:
You never really know where a seed will fall.
You simply have to be brave enough to sow it.
And now it is spring in South Africa.
A season that reminds us that what appeared dormant was not dead. That winter was not wasted. That beneath seemingly barren ground, life was preparing itself all along.
Maybe that is true of us too.
There are seasons when we bloom loudly, and seasons when our most important work happens where nobody can see it.
And then, one morning, there is a new leaf.
A new song.
A new beginning.
This October, Palissander brings The Seeds That We Sow home.
The music we carried across Europe will finally be shared with you — our people, our families, our friends, and the community that has allowed us to keep sowing for all these years.
