15th January 1972, Don McLean's 'American Pie' started a four week run at No.1 in the US singles chart. The song is a recounting of "The Day the Music Died" (a term taken from the song) the 1959 plane crash that killed Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper (Jiles Perry Richardson, Jr.), and the aftermath. Happy birthday to Dave Grohl, born on 14th January 1969, American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer. At the age of seventeen, Grohl joined Scream, he was the longest serving drummer with Nirvana and the frontman and founder of the Foo Fighters and is the drummer and co-founder of the rock supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. In 2012, Grohl was estimated to be the third wealthiest drummer in the world, behind Ringo Starr and Phil Collins, with a fortune of $260 million.

18th November 1993, Nirvana recorded their MTV unplugged special at Sony Studios, New York. Nirvana played a setlist composed of mainly lesser-known material and cover versions of songs by The Vaselines, David Bowie, Meat Puppets and Lead Belly. The album won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 1996.

Brendon developed a love for singing at an early age and has never stopped since. Brendon has always had a deep appreciation for great vocals and lyrics, and regards this as being a vital ingredient to a great song and band!
His favourite bands include: Billy Talent, Incubus, Boy and Bear, Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys, Bruce Springsteen, The Killers and The Gaslight Anthem.
