NWU PUK-Koor / Choir Die koor tree op as ambassadeur van die NWU-PUK en dra deur musiek die karakter en waardes van die NWU

Die NWU PUK-Koor is in 1955 gestig en sedert 2012 is die koor onder die inspirerende leiding van Kobus Venter. Die oorhoofse oogmerk van die koor is tweeledig, naamlik om die breë saak van goeie koormusiek te dien, en om studente die geleentheid te gee om hul talente uit te leef en daarom tree die NWU PUK – Koor gereeld op by ʼn verskeidenheid geleenthede.

The NWU PUK-Choir was founded in 1955,

and since 2012 the choir has been under the inspired direction of Kobus Venter. The overarching aim of the choir is threefold, namely to serve the broad cause of good choral music, to give students the opportunity to hone their talents and develop as balanced people, and to inspire the sense of God’s proximity. People have an innate need for music – therefore the PUK-Choir regularly performs at different types of events.

🎶𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗞𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗞𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗘𝗜 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗟🎶

On 17 May 2026, the NWU Choir welcomed the Knabenkantorei Basel in Potchefstroom with great excitement💜 Our choristers immediately started to get to know the boys and directors of the choir which led to an even greater excitement and anticipation for the concert that followed that afternoon.

Later that day we had a workshop with the impeccable boys choir and taught them one of our African repertoire items, “Theka” that was also later performed as a mass choir item at that afternoon’s concert 🤩

The Knabenkantorei Basel blew the audience away with their incredible harmonies, phenomenal choreography and overall outstanding performance - it truly was an honour to share a stage with them😌🎼
Memories were made, friendships were formed and we are truly eternally grateful for the day that we shared with the Knabenkantorei Basel🇨🇭

As the year draws to a close, and in the spirit of our theme for this year, ✨Resonans✨, we would like to take a moment and resonate on the incredible University Choirs Concert hosted by the University of Johannesburg Choir this year on 20 September 2025🤩.
4 universities across South Africa, namely the University of Pretoria Camerata, the University of Johannesburg Choir, the University of the Free State Choir and ourselves, the NWU Choir, had the opportunity to share incredible harmonies on the UJ Sanlam Auditorium Stage on Kingsway Campus.

Thank you to the University of Johannesburg Choir for hosting this incredible event and for creating the opportunity to share our harmonies with such an incredibly vibrant audience, to make unforgettable memories and friendships across different universities✨🎶💜

🚍🧳𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗜𝗥 𝗧𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱🗺️🎶

As the year draws to a close, and in the spirit of our theme this year, ✨Resonans✨, we would like to take a moment and resonate on this year’s choir tour. 🤩
From early in the morning on 24 June 2025, until late in the evening on 1 July 2025, the NWU Choir embarked on a very exciting tour throughout South Africa, which is naturally a highlight of the choir year.
We performed in: 📍Kimberley 📍Richmond 📍George 📍Mossel Bay 📍Swellendam
While we travelled to our several destinations and prepared for our performances, we had wonderful opportunities to sight see and familiarise ourselves with our country’s beautiful treasures, like Kimberley’s Big Hole, the Gariep Dam, the Cango Caves and more. We even visited George Arts Theatre and thoroughly enjoyed the production of ‘The Sound of Music’.⛰️🎶✨ Although we faced some bus troubles along the way, we found a silver lining and enjoyed Koorobics and dancing outside the bus while we waited for the bus troubles to be resolved.
From beautiful, musical, moving moments amongst the choir members to great laughter and slight rivalry between the top and bottom bus, every moment and every harmony is greatly cherished.💜😌✨

Four sweet days have come and gone, filled with beautiful moments of friendship, singing and wild delight!

'n Koor van 230 alumni was weer saam op die verhoog onder leiding van Awie van Wyk en Kobus Venter. 'n Ware hoogtepunt wat nog lank gekoester gaan word.

20 - 23 November 2025 was brief, but will remain bright in our hearts for ever!

Dankie vir 70 jaar, nou op die volgende 70!
