On this day, we join the global opera family in celebrating our art form. First launched in 2019 by OPERA America, Opera Europa and Ópera Latinoamérica, World Opera Day honours the birthdays of composers Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss II, while celebrating how opera enriches society.

At Mandela Bay Opera, our vision is to produce bold, accessible opera rooted in African heritage, engage our community through education and outreach, and build a sustainable platform for emerging talent.

Today, we shine a spotlight on real voices, real stories, real passion.
