The play Mayibuye iAfrica is set pout in year 2020, during the rise of the covid 19 pandemic in South Africa. it is set up in a township in Gqeberha called New Brighton.
The that will be found in this play is Xenophobia and struggles of living under the Covid-19 pandemic.
This plays also explores the diminishing of Ubuntu in black communities. This play evolves from the question that is "ingaba ubuntu busekhona?"
The tittle of the play Mayibuye iAfrica has its significance as it calls all All Africans to become one and not segregate themselves futher.

Feels like it was just yesterday that we did a performance on the r**e issues plaguing our institutions.

Once again, history shows us that it has a way of repeating itself when we do nothing to change it.

We, as the Mandela University Drama Society, condemn the act of r**e and violence which transpired yesterday evening at one of the Nelson Mandela University Campuses, namely second avenue campus. It is about high time the institution accounts for all the acts of violence which occur at a place our parents entrusted our lives to.
