Mandela University Drama Society A society for all those who are passionate about performing arts. Open to every NMMU Student who loves and lives for acting.

2005: When Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University opened, a group of students created the Drama Society.
2006: There was not much happening in the society and thus it died out being left with no sense of direction.
2011: After 5 years of inactivity, The Arts and Culture Department approached a few students who showed interest in drama to lead the society. The drama society has been functioning eve

r since.
2015: There has been a tremendous amount of improvement over the years. The members are involved in a lot of productions which showcase the struggles students and the South African nation is facing. It has been involved in the Unicef production titled "A Tale of Two Mothers" and also in the Beyers Naude commemoration which took place at NMMU in August 2015. The society has proved through hard work and commitment to be one of the best performing and well functioning societies of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
