Celebrating the Class of 2026!

On 1 October, we celebrated our NQF 4 Film & Television Production Operations and NQF 5 Film & Television Production graduates at The Athenaeum in Gqeberha.

What a special day! We’re sharing some of that magic through these photographs.

A huge congratulations to all our graduates, and thank you to our speakers Sebenzile Zalabe, Andile Nene, Mncedi Hubert Ngqawana, Siyabulela Bolokoqoshe, Dimpho Bulani and Jodie Groener, as well as our staff, families and supporters.

Applications are open for Digital Storytellers at The Media Workshop.

We’re looking for young creatives in the Eastern Cape with basic skills in:

📹 Camera & Sound - 10 spots
💻 Post-Production - 5 spots

You’ll work alongside Writer-Directors to create short documentaries about local entrepreneurs, gaining practical training, real production experience and new work for your portfolio along the way.

📅 3 November – 3 December 2026
💰 R350 stipend per programme day attended
👤 Open to unemployed or underemployed Eastern Cape youth aged 18–35

Your assignment ✍️ :
Imagine you have 30 minutes to film a one-minute video about a small business owner in your community.

Camera & Sound: Tell us what you’d film and how you’d capture clear speech and useful sound.

Post-Production: Tell us how you’d turn the footage into an engaging one-minute story using sound, pacing and captions.

You only need to write your answer. You do not need to create a new video.

🎬 CALLING EMERGING WRITER-DIRECTORS!

The Media Workshop is looking for 20 emerging Writer-Director learners to join Digital Storytellers — a practical training and production programme focused on creating micro-documentaries about South African entrepreneurs.

If you already have basic skills in writing, directing, journalism, media or visual storytelling and are looking to gain real production experience, mentorship, production credits and stronger portfolio material, this opportunity could be for you.

📍 The Media Workshop, Gqeberha
📅 6 October – 3 December 2026
💰 R350 stipend per programme day attended
🎥 Practical training + real production experience
👥 Open to applicants aged 18–35 living in the Eastern Cape

Selected learners will work in production crews to develop and create short documentaries, with the opportunity to present completed work to an industry player for possible broadcast.

⚠️ This is not a beginner filmmaking programme. Applicants must be able to demonstrate basic existing skills.
