G&S gets All Shook Up with Auditions for Elvis Musical
Elvis Presley will forever be the King of Rock and Roll and the PE G&S Society is ending their 2015 season with a world-wide smash hit musical that celebrates the music of Elvis, All Shook Up. The story of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night is transported to 1950s small town USA where this classic story and over 20 Elvis hits join forces for a musical spectacular. All Shook Up will be directed by the Showtime Award winning team of Rose Cowpar as Director and Richard Campbell as Musical Director.
The show features over 20 Elvis favourites and will have audiences clapping, foot tapping and singing along from the opening number, Jailhouse Rock through a cavalcade of hits including Don’t Be Cruel, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, Can’t Help Falling in Love, A Little Less Conversation and Love Me Tender to name just a few.

Everyone will need to do a singing audition even if you are primarily a dancer or actor and audition slots need to be booked. Auditionees are asked to prepare an upbeat rock and roll song, preferably an Elvis number that shows your vocal range. Vocal auditions will be held in the morning from 10.00am followed by a movement and dance workshop from 2.00pm which everyone needs to attend. Please call the number below to book a slot for your singing audition. The environment for auditions will be encouraging and supportive to ensure that everyone has a chance to shine.
There will also be auditions for members of the 9 piece orchestra at the end of July. Instrumentalists needed are; keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, alto saxophone, tenor sax, baritone sax, trumpet and trombone. Orchestra members should have a minimum of Grade 5 or equivalent experience and drummers and guitarists should preferably be able to read music. Musicians are asked to prepare an audition piece, ideally in the Elvis/rock and roll style that shows off their ability, technicality and style. Lease call Richard Campbell on 084 219 3524 with any enquiries and to register your interest.
G&S is also looking for set builders, technical and backstage crew so whatever your area of interest this is a great opportunity to get involved and learn in a Society that has been bringing the best of musical theatre to PE stages for over 80 years.
Please call Rose Cowpar on 0729061977 with all enquiries and to book a time for singing auditions. An audition package is available that gives information about the show, the roles and some tips for auditions.
