This weekend, we’re raising a glass to the w**es of David Finlayson, a Stellenbosch w**emaker renowned for crafting w**es with character, elegance, and a distinctly individual style. With a passion for expressing the personality of each varietal, David Finlayson’s portfolio offers a wonderful mix of fresh, vibrant whites and beautifully structured reds.

From crisp Sauvignon Blanc and refined Chardonnay to Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon, this tasting takes you on a journey through a selection of w**es made with precision, passion, and plenty of personality. And of course, there’s the much-loved Pepper Pot to round out the experience.

🍷 THE TANK ROOM HOSTS DAVID FINLAYSON W**ES 🍷

The Tank Room in Walmer is set to host a special weekend tasting featuring the acclaimed w**es of David Finlayson, one of the Cape's most respected w**emaking names, produced at the picturesque Edgebaston Vineyard in the foothills of Stellenbosch's Simonsberg Mountain.

A third-generation vintner, David Finlayson honed his craft at Peter Lehmann W**es in Australia and the legendary Château Margaux in France before purchasing the Edgebaston farm in 2004. Today the 22-hectare vineyard's deep clay top soils and shale sub-soils unique to this part of Stellenbosch produce w**es with excellent structure, classic style and mineral character, made using only organic fertilisers sourced from hormone-free dairy herds and compost

Known particularly for his expertise with Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style red blends, David has developed a portfolio that balances traditional w**emaking principles with a modern understanding of Stellenbosch terroir. His w**es are expressive and structured, with an emphasis on elegance, complexity, and ageing potential.

The estate's vineyards benefit from the diverse soils and favourable climate of Stellenbosch, where warm days and cooling influences help the grapes develop concentration while retaining freshness. This combination creates the perfect foundation for both vibrant whites and beautifully structured reds.

The Pepper Pot has become one of David Finlayson's signature w**es, showcasing his ability to create generous, characterful blends, while his varietal w**es demonstrate the same attention to detail and craftsmanship. Across the range, there is a clear focus on letting the quality of the fruit and the personality of the vineyard shine through.

This Friday and Saturday evening at The Tank Room, guests can explore a lineup that takes you from crisp Sauvignon Blanc and elegant Chardonnay through to Pinot Noir, Merlot, Pepper Pot, and Cabernet Sauvignon. It's a tasting that offers a wonderful snapshot of David Finlayson's distinctive w**emaking style.

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kanu W**es to The Tank Room for a vibrant and characterful tasting experience. Guests enjoyed a beautifully curated selection that showcased the diversity of this Stellenbosch estate, from elegant Cap Classique and expressive Chenin Blanc to classic Cape reds with plenty of personality.

Each glass offered something different, from the fresh and youthful Unwooded Chenin Blanc and KCB Chenin Blanc to the richer character of Merlot, Rockwood Red, and the mature Pinotage. The tasting was a wonderful celebration of Kanu’s passion for the land, thoughtful w**emaking, and w**es that are made to be enjoyed and remembered.
