Nelson Mandela University Dance is a well-established student society that specializes in Ballroom and Latin American style dancing such as the Waltz, Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Rumba, Samba, Chacha and Jive. We showcase these dances at various competitions and events throughout the year, including the Intervarsity Student Nationals. We are privileged to have one of the best and most respected coa
ches in South Africa. Internationally recognized Miranda Botha has a CV which boasts acolades such as:
- 10 x SA Champion in Ballroom and Latin American Dancing.
- Was ranked 8th in the world in Latin American dancing.
- The only person in SA to have won both Junior Grandslam titles.
- Vice-Chairperson of the SA Dance Teachers Association (S.A.D.T.A.)
- Chairperson of the Eastern Cape branch of the S.A.D.T.A.
- A S.A.D.T.A. examiner
- Miranda is also an internationally renowned judge having been invited to judge at various international competitions in Europe, Miami(USA) and Los Angeles(USA) and others. Whether your a seasoned champion or someone who has never danced before we have a variety of classes to suit everybody. We compete at the Interschools, which is always held here in Port Elizabeth, and Intervarsity Competitions, which is hosted by a different university each year. We have classes every Tuesday night at the Summerstrand United Church. Students and Non-students are welcome.
