Usually, it comes down to overmixing.

When too many colours blend together (especially complementary colours ), they can lose brightness and start looking dull.

A few tips:
โœ” Clean your brush regularly
โœ” Let layers dry before adding more
โœ” Mix with intention, not endlessly
