Hi Pletties .. thought it best if I posted, following this weeks chatter about Wild Waters Plett...and just clarify a few things. Firstly... sadly it is true that Wild Waters Plett is now permanently closed. We were served notice at start of May of the municipalities intent to put the land out to tender beginning June. To date this has not yet occurred and it is now my understanding that this will only transpire early next year. As to rumours of low cost housing, shopping centres and the likes .. the land is zoned for recreational .. an entire process would have to ensue in order for that to be implemented.. and whilst I don't put much past the municipality these days ..this would have to be changed from a zoning point of view first and I would think it unlikely they would engage on that timeous route. It is however incredibly sad this day has come .. The Waterpark is(was) an institution.. an integral part of Plett and a tourism landmark...and I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of messages I have received from families, moms and dads and schools that are completely heartbroken to learn the news. So many of us grew up spending our summers at the park, my own kids grew up there and the Waterpark accounted for most of their holiday fun.. and I have watched many of your kids grow up over the last few years too. It has been a privilege to have been apart of so much happiness and memories made. The sounds of kids laughter has brought an energy to the space/land that I hope will go on to see something positive built there. I have redirected my energy and creativity back into my clothing lines and have opened a small shop on main street , Bayview centre called Kiki .. where I hope I will continue to make people smile ( just in a different way) through the clothing and soon to launch swimwear range for Adults/kids made here in Plett, KiKi . Sad that the kids to come will miss out on the magic .. but grateful for all those that have experienced it in the past. Kerry
