HIGH SCHOOL CELLPHONE FILM COMPETITION

Are you a young storyteller with a passion for film? Do you have a story you’ve always wanted to tell?

Hluma Film Festival, in partnership with Nobonga Nomakhaya Foundation, invites young people aged 12–18 years to participate in our High School Short Cellphone Film Competition!

YOUR CHALLENGE
Write and produce your own original short film using a cellphone. You can tell a story about any topic or subject you choose. Be creative, be bold, and let your imagination lead the way!

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Age: 12–18 years
Your film must be your own original work.
Write and shoot a short film using a cellphone
Film length: 10 minutes maximum, it can be shorter, but must NOT exceed 10 minutes
Make sure your video is clear
Make sure your audio/sound is clear
You may choose any topic or subject
Only new films created for this competition will be accepted
Old videos or previously made films will NOT be accepted

PRIZES TO BE WON!
There are TWO exciting cash prizes up for grabs!
FIRST PRIZE — R1,500.00
SECOND PRIZE — R1,000.00

HLUMA FILM FESTIVAL in partnership with UNCLE P MEDIA
Do you have a great short film idea? Have you always dreamed of seeing your story on screen? This is your chance!
We are looking for aspiring screenwriters aged 14–21 to submit an original short film idea or script.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
• Original short film idea or script
• Running time: 5–15 minutes
• Language: isiZulu, isiXhosa, or English
• Open to ages 14–21
SELECTED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE
• A comprehensive film production workshop
• Professional script development support
• Production of their short film
• Screening of the completed film at the 8th Hluma Film Festival
