🌍WORLD POETRY DAY ✍🏾

Today we celebrate the power of poetry, not just as words on paper, but as a voice for the unheard, a mirror of our realities, and a weapon of truth.

In our townships and rural communities, poetry has always been more than art. It is healing, it is resistance, it is storytelling, and it is hope. Where opportunities are limited, poetry becomes a platform. Where voices are silenced, poetry speaks. Where pain exists, poetry transforms it into purpose.

To every poet out there, keep writing. Even when no one is listening, your voice matters. Your story matters. One poem can inspire, challenge, and change lives.

To every supporter, whether you read poetry, attend shows, share a post, or clap for a performer, you are part of the movement. The arts cannot grow without you.

And as we celebrate today, just know… something is coming.
πŸ‘€πŸ”₯ Sicknatcha Krispy Sundayz is on its way back.

More poetry. More music. More voices. More life.

Let’s continue building a culture where poetry lives in our streets, our homes, and our hearts.

The brown bottle has become a black boy's hand accessory.
He wears it with every outfit
And takes pictures with it.
He carries it to sleep and wakes up to put it back in his hand.
He says it's fun but hides behind sunglasses coz bloodshot eyes tell no lies.
He says it helps him cope
but his shaking hands tell a different tale.
Mother looks at it with disgust in her eyes.
It was the same accessory that replaced her hand inside father's palms.
It changed his soft touches to fists
And ate his face alive.
She blames herself for cutting her son off breast milk too soon.
Maybe she should've nursed him through manhood
And he wouldn't always be this thirsty.
But the brown bottle is his inheritance,
He took it from the hands of his dying father.
She misses her resemblance in her son's face
Coz now he mirrors the face of his father on his dying bed,
The Phuza Face.
