Mr. Mordan Madness on a (fake) Monday... Oh the joys we share in the ordinary things...

There are so many cliche, corny and cringe mottos to this thing we call life, but the one we, as a gallery, truly live by, maybe even swear bye, is to not take everything so bloody seriously. Play every day. Laugh from ‘the deep bottom belly’. Fill your home, your life, your day, with the things – art, poeple, conversation... – that make you FEEL! Because heck, our time here is too precious!

Come to the gallery, share a laugh, admire an artwork, take it home, experience joy.

Coffee and a ‘ligte happie’ will be supplied on arrival.
Phase 1 of workshop.
Lunch (for own account) from our neighbours at Noop (Noop).

‘By isolating an everyday object and presenting it as the sole subject, I invite it to become the hero of its own portrait. The tiny human figure shifts our sense of scale, encouraging us to pause.’

Zoom into the intricate, playful details of Nadine’s (Nadine Nothnagel Atelier) Daily Extra-Ordinary series.

Now showing and available at RELEVANT Art gallery (RELEVANT).

KRING/ LOOP
CYCLES/SIKLUS

Join us next Thursday evening for the opening of Kringloop – a new exhibition by Marleen de Villiers at RELEVANT Art, and a very special 1 year milestone for our gallery!

‘Om en om, weer en weer en nogmaals.

With this exhibition I explore the transient nature of cycles of life and death, usefulness and repurposing. With needle and thread, cloth and clay, natural dye and mostly pre-used materials I create narratives of resilience, strength, meaning and matter-ing.

The Japanese philosophy and aesthetic of WABI SABI captures the beauty of imperfection, where new stories are written from threads that are coming undone.

I explore the tradition of BORO in telling stories of preserving what is useful by bringing together the traditions of Indigo, Sashiko and Shibori, creating beauty, usefulness and longevity.

sentience/ cycles/ transmutation.

Until Such Time, Then, Now, When… ‘

Last Thursday : Hanging on by a Thread 🪡

This month’s Last Thursday takes its cue from a phrase that feels particularly fitting.

Hanging on by a Thread speaks to a town caught in anticipation, collectively holding its breath, while drawing a line towards Kringloop, a new exhibition by Marleen de Villiers opening at RELEVANT Art.

Join us next Thursday evening for the opening of Kringloop amid the anticipation of Interschools, with vino, conversation and our latest exhibition on view.
