🦥 SLOWING THINGS DOWN FOR INTERNATIONAL SLOTH DAY!

Meet Wookie, our adorable Linnaeus's Two-toed Sloth! 💚

Native to the tropical rainforests of South America, these fascinating mammals spend most of their lives hanging upside down in the treetops. They're primarily nocturnal, have an incredibly slow metabolism and use their powerful, curved claws to navigate the forest canopy.

🌿 IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC)

Although currently classified as Least Concern, wild populations face increasing threats from deforestation, habitat loss and the illegal wildlife trade.

Wondering where Wookie has been? With the colder weather, our slow-moving friend has been enjoying the comfort of his warm indoor habitat and is currently not on public display.

But don't worry! Keep an eye on our socials for updates on when Wookie will be back out for visitors to see!

🎉 HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY, CLYDE! 🥳

15 years of fluff, curiosity and those irresistible amber eyes! 🐒

Today we're celebrating Clyde, one of our beautiful Common Brown Lemurs, as he turns the big 15!

🌿 A little about Clyde's species:

🐾 Common Brown Lemurs are native to Madagascar, where they play an important role in keeping forests healthy by dispersing seeds through their droppings.

🍃 They're omnivores, enjoying a varied diet of fruits, leaves, flowers and the occasional insect.

🌳 These social primates spend much of their time in trees, using their impressive agility to navigate the forest canopy.

⚠️ IUCN Red List Status: VULNERABLE (VU)

Sadly, the biggest threat facing Common Brown Lemurs in the wild is habitat loss due to deforestation, particularly as forests are cleared for agriculture and logging. Hunting also puts pressure on their populations.

Clyde's birthday is a wonderful reminder of why protecting wildlife and their natural habitats matters.

DUST, DETERMINATION & A WHOLE LOT OF FUN! 🏅

A massive thank you to Wilgewandel Holiday Farm for an absolutely fantastic Dust for Glory 2026!

Our very own Anneke, CCO, and Tamryn, Marketing & Communications Coordinator, took on the Medium Challenge and had an absolute blast!

Did they finish first? Nope. Did they give it their all, get a little muddy and have the BEST time? Absolutely! 💪

Events like these remind us just how special our local community is. We're proud to support initiatives that bring people together, celebrate our beautiful Klein Karoo and encourage everyone to get outdoors and have some fun.

If you missed out this year, make sure you're on the starting line next year! We certainly encourage everyone to give it a go!
