This pandemic has brought other countries of the world into scary light for our kids. Our next port of call is Italy ... and what a beacon they have been! Put on some music (opera, Pavarotti, Dean Martin), practice the beautifully lyrical language (Buonasera, Arrivederci, Ciao Bella), show them Ancient Rome, the amazing artists and architecture, the cars (for the boys), cook the food (pizza and pasta - YUM!!!), show them some of the uplifting footage of the COVID crisis coming from Italy. For crafts, dye your own pasta and make wonderful mosaics, paint with spaghetti, make gladiators in the Colosseum, make paper plate pizzas (and sweet yummy ones from Marie biscuits or flapjacks), redo a masterpiece like the Mona Lisa ###

Looking for something fun to do with the kids? How about a virtual tour of the world? Research different countries, learn about their culture, history and nature. Maybe try a typical dish, listen to music, try a dance, maybe learn basic words like hello and thank you, do arts and crafts related to what you have learnt. Make a passport and stamp it after you have "visited" each country. Crafternoons did this often in our classes. So I have included some examples of when we visited India. The kids had so much fun... Please feel free to contact me for more ideas on other countries we "visited".
