When you bring the Hilltoppers Club Seniors of Westlake into the Grade R class at Westlake Primary School to give the young learners a special gift, a Westie - their new best friend at school, joy and love is all around. We thank Angela Gorman of Senior Santa Shoebox for this lovely idea, we thank Portia Dlakadla and her seniors, Lynne Doubell and her knitting team and Celia Musikanth of Circle, our go-to team member on this project. At the end of 2021 (check out the face masks) six Westlake Primary School drama club kids auditioned for the Waterfront Theatre School (for three spots on their recreational programme). They were so good, so confident at the auditions, that all six were enrolled there and then and on 15 Jan, 2022 were launched into a world of the performing arts they never dreamed could be theirs. This dream journey continues in 2026 with huge thanks to the Fondazione L***a and the Waterfront Theatre School for their continued support and incredible training ❤️

Our young and very talented Grade 5's enjoying their introduction to performance and the stage, starting with the basics of mime, movement, and expression. Meeting up with some fellow actors who re-join the Westlake Primary School Drama Club, 2026, for the Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa, was a treat and very exciting. We can't wait. Thank you The Khula Cape Foundation for your support of our 2025 "Intro to the Stage" 2-month programme at Westlake Primary School. Our group of Grade 5's are waiting eagerly in the wings to join their fellow Drama Club performers in 2026, as we prepare for the Shakespeare Schools Festival South Africa, with our version of Romeo and Juliet.
