Dear Hamediehs SC family and friends,
I would like to wish you and your families well on the eve of our nation's 21-day lock down period. This is indeed a trying time for every South African, and for all citizens globally.
After witnessing the devastation of COVID-19 for the past several weeks, it has now become our stark reality. Our government, along with religious, business, civic and local authorities, has worked tirelessly in consultation with scientists, doctors and world leaders to help us, firstly, understand the magnitude of the coronavirus and its effects, and, secondly, to deal with it as best we can under the circumstances.
In the absence of a vaccine as yet, the only thing that we can do to stop it from spreading is to isolate ourselves in our homes, and to avoid contact with others, whilst taking extra care to be hygienic by washing our hands regularly, and covering our mouths when coughing and/or sneezing. The coronavirus thrives on group contact, so we must stop any and all forms of social engagement. Please heed this important call.
To those of you who form part of our nation's essential services, and hence have to be out, we pray for your safety, and salute your special call to continue to serve humanity.
I urge you to use this special, quiet time mindfully and with purpose. Use it to reflect, to spend quality time with your immediate family in your home, and to pray, love, laugh and be hopeful.
We should remain hopeful that we will emerge from this with renewed faith, and with gratitude for all that has been taken from us, and that we so often took for granted.
I pray that the Almighty strengthens you all during this time, and protects and guides you and your loved ones, Ameen. Please be safe, be mindful of others, and take care, Ameen.
Shukran.
Mr Tougied Gordon
