A Chanel bottle, rendered as an object of desire.

The title nods to South African artist Tyla "Put Me In Chanel" — a modern ode to aspiration, to being placed where you belong: in rooms, in light, in luxury.
My daughter and I waited in a queue for 5 hours to meet Tyla at Mall of Africa. By the time we met her I was exhausted and a mess. But she was beautiful, elegant and graceful. She was so kind to us both. She could see I was tired and stood up and hugged me and thanked us for coming. My daughter adores our South African Diva so it was special for me to incorporate that memory and in incorporate something about her into one of my paintings.

And then the classic Chanel bottle..

The original Chanel No. 5 bottle was conceived by Gabrielle Chanel in 1921. Revolutionary in its restraint. A minimalist vessel designed to hold something abstract. It became more than perfume. It became legacy. Over a century later, it remains one of the most valuable and coveted symbols of timeless elegance.

This work reinterprets that icon. The softness of pink against the architectural lines of the bottle speaks to heritage and reinvention. To history, and to the woman who wears it now.

Did you know that old Chanel bottles are actually valuable and considered collectors items.

I am loving my sexy citrus ladies! Lemon lady "La Dolce Vita" was my first of this type after my trip to Cinque Terre in Italy. People loved the lemons so much I decided to stick with the frutti style but wanted to make it more funky. After the way everyone loved "Cherry Bomb" I have decided to do another one for Decorex JHB. I worked on her all day yesterday and today. She is very similar but much more textured and has a different painting style. I am excited to introduce her to you!

"Cherry Bomb" was a show favourite and was also sold at Decorex Cape Town.
I will habe a framed limited edition print of her available at Decorex JHB. I will be changing up her shirt and also the background stripes to keep her unique.

I will also be bringing with a fresh new version. A similar lady. A sexy citrus lady. I am busy working on her at the moment.. I cant wait to reveal her to you all.
