The Karoo Youth Choir , mourns the passing of Mimi Coertse. A celebrated South African soprano singer, a true pioneer and an icon in the opera industry. Her legacy will live on for generations. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, colleagues, friends & all who loved her ❤️.
It is with great sadness that Joburg City Theatres joins South Africa and the world in mourning the passing of the legendary South African soprano, Mimi Coertse.
Mimi Coertse played an important role in South Africa’s cultural history and performed at Roodepoort Theatre formerly known as Pro Musica Theatre. Her performances helped build the theatre’s reputation as a leading venue for opera and classical music. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to the arts, she was also honored with a star on the Joburg Theatre Walk of Fame.
