Charcoal sketch using the Loomis method.

This year's been a very slow year in terms of my artwork. A lot of searching, thinking and planning has been done and redone. Art should fulfil the artist... I fully believe that except producing art has been feeling like WORK in stead of something I am passionate about, I somehow have felt I should produce work. Yet how does an imperfect, inexperienced person produce something he is not?

This sketching is one that has made me realise a couple of things. Firstly, it has taught me not to worry about imperfections as they are part of life (I am learning to let go of the strive for perfection), it has reminded me that good art in perfect art... Also, true perfection cannot be achieved by imperfect beings, mastery is achievable, but NOT OBJECTIVE PERFECTION.

This does not suggest that perfection in inexistant, but that on this earth and in this realm it is relative. Humanly attainable 'perfection' is riddled with imperfection...but that's the beauty of it. This is true even in the secular and religious view alike.
