Back To Matatiele Youth festival, Matatiele (2026)

Reminder: The 2021 Matatiele Local Municipality's Mayoral cup will kick off on the 23rd of May 2021.

This years' mayoral cup will be played on ward cluster level, whereby teams from nearby villages and respective wards will be clustered in groups & compete to play at a knockout tournament later on this year.

The purpose of the Mayoral Cup is to encourage the youth of Matatiele Local Municipality to participate in sport, refrain from substance abuse which leads them to criminal activities and to unearth new talent.

The tournament will feauture two sporting codes namely, soccer and netball and will only cater for under 20s. Youth with existing teams are encouraged to obtain registration forms from their ward Cllrs and ward Clerks as the registration deadline is 13 May 2021.

During Youth Month we celebrate our achievements and reflect on our successes during 25 years of freedom and democracy.
However more still needs to be done to address the triple challenge of unemployment, inequality and poverty especially amongst our youth.
