🚨APPRECIATION POST🚨: Prophets of Da City🔥💯

POC is a Hip-Hop crew from Cape Town, South Africa. They are composed of eight members, but their group fluctuates. Mainly, it includes:

1. Ishameal Morabe
2. Mark Heuvel
3. Shaheen Ariefdien
4. Ramone
5. DJ Ready D

They are the first rap group in South Africa, pioneers of the early 90s hip-hop in Mzansi. Their songs are filled with socio-political messages about the state of South Africa's social and economical issues in urban areas, which were also marginalized.

The group has also performed around famous artists such as James Brown, Public Enemy, The Fugees, Ice-T, Quincy Jones and many more.

These are the OGs of SA Hip-Hop. We are very greatful for their contribution to the culture. We also appreciate the doors they've opened for the generation of rappers that came after them.

🚨Homicide In Hip-Hop🚨

Rapping is a dangerous profession these days. According to Wikipedia📖:

"Two studies in the mid-2010s concluded that murder was the cause of 51.5% of hip-hop musician deaths. The average age of death is between 25–30 years of age. Hip hop has a higher rate of homicide than any other genre of music, ranging from five to 32 times higher."

It's been 8 days since we lost one of the most iconic artists in the game to gun violence: TakeOff. What are your thoughts on this cycle of violence in hip-hop? It's been going on for more than a decade, with rappers falling victim to the same dynamic.
