Have you heard about the concept of an 'Art Date' popularized by Julia Cameron in her book The Artist’s Way.
The artist date is a blocked out, sheduled time, ideally 2 hours weekly for quiet reflection and inspiration. You go somewhere inspiring, alone (no friends, family or distractions) to nurture your creativity. Ideas would be to visit a museum, a garden in bloom, an Art Gallery or a new coffee shop with a book of poems, a walk in nature.
"What are the benefits of an artist date? by Kate Bedow
When you are thinking about your writing life it is important to ensure that you are feeding your writer, whether that is reading or going on an artist date. You must make sure that you are putting as much in as you are taking out, otherwise your writing will become lifeless and empty."
Creativity is often ignited by inspiration from other artists, writers, nature's beauty or a new idea birthed out of a song or poetry. We need to take time out... "Art Dates" to fuel the creative-child within us all. Fill your cup and overflow in with new ideas and enjoyment of life and the beauty that surrounds you.
