West Coast Youth Orchestra Programs West Coast Youth Orchestra European Tour 2017 We will do everything in our power to make this tour possible for all our dedicated WCYO and WMCA musicians.

In the 10 years of existence the WCYO has had several successful performances and the Arena Group Travel (PTY) Ltd - always scouting and seeking for new talent - identified the WCYO two years ago as a candidate for their youth program. After attending several of our performances in the two years, the Arena Group decided that the WCYO students are ready to participate at international level. The WC

YO Symphony- and Junior String Orchestras were invited by the Arena Group to participate in the International European Youth Music Festival 2017 and are planning this exciting international tour in June/July 2017. The WCYO Symphony- and Junior String Orchestras desperately want to broaden their music repertoire, challenge themselves and compete at international level while representing South-Africa. Various students from our music school, West Coast Music Academy were also invited to attend this tour and will perform as soloists at the International European Youth Music Festival 2017. This 13 day tour in Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia will be hosted by Arena Group Travel (PTY) Ltd and this would be the ideal opportunity to spread our wings and compete at international level. In the future, this will also encourage more local youths to get involved in the music projects offered by WCYO, which can help local youths to build a future, create a passion for music and keep them of the streets, away from gangs and crime. This is an amazing opportunity for the WCYO and WCMA soloists to represent South Africa internationally, especially while performing South African music at this International Festival.

West Coast Youth Orchestra (WCYO) gives the gift of music to young people across the West Coast.

Through our Outreach & Development Programme, students are introduced to instruments such as the violin, cello, trombone and recorder, often for the very first time.

Guided by dedicated music teachers, experienced educators and student teachers who are passionate about giving back, they discover not only music, but confidence, discipline and new opportunities.

Music education has the power to change lives. Every lesson is an investment in a young person's future, every instrument opens a new world, and every note brings us one step closer to stronger, more connected communities.

WCYO Outreach & Development Programme

At Middelpos Primary in Saldanha, the first group of learners for our music programme has been identified.

A group of cello players, a group of violin players, and a group of recorder players have begun their journey. There is a real sense of excitement in every session. The enthusiasm is high, and the joy on their faces says it all as they discover what it means to make music and learn to play an instrument.
