Nice one

POV: Your aunt asks "so what do you do?" and you have exactly 30 seconds to explain medical billing and coding before she asks about your dating life

Turns out, you're learning a skill that literally keeps healthcare running. Doctors need coders. It's that important. And the career prospects? Chef's kiss. 💼

Dear Practice Manager

Allow me for a moment to challenge the way you think about technology?

Most practices don't actually want better technology.

They want:

Fewer problems.

Better decisions.

Better outcomes.

Happier patients.

A team that gets more done.

Technology is simply the vehicle.

Yet I still see practices signing up for software before they understand the problem they're trying to solve.

It's like buying a faster car before deciding where you're driving.

The practices growing fastest aren't the ones with the latest tools.

They're the ones making better decisions because they have the right information at the right time.

Technology should never be the strategy.

It should make the strategy easier to execute.

Question: What's one technology investment your practice made that genuinely changed the way you operate?

The best practice management conversations don't start with technology, they start with understanding the workflow.

If you'd like to explore what's holding your practice back, I'd be happy to have that conversation.

When Medical Aid Runs Dry, Practices Must Think Differently

By mid‑year, many South Africans exhaust medical aid benefits. Six months remain uncovered. For practices reliant on scheme remittances, this is a systemic threat.

Contributions rise 6–9% annually, yet benefit caps stay static. Patients downgrade, delay care, or default. Practices face arrears, shrinking cashflow, and mounting admin.

Survival depends on decisive leadership:

Diversify revenue streams beyond medical aid.

Educate patients early about limits and co‑payments.

Adopt value‑based care to reward outcomes.

Strengthen billing systems to reduce rejections.

Recovery is possible. Practices that embrace cashflow triage, rebuild patient trust, and leverage digital health tools can turn crisis into resilience.

This is not the year to wait and see. It is the year to act, re‑engineer workflows, and position for sustainability.
