Meet Savannah: A Tiny But Mighty Kidney Warrior

Meet Charlene, a devoted mother, and her beautiful daughter, Savannah—a brave little kidney warrior who is already teaching everyone around her how to face life's toughest battles with a smile.
The Journey So Far
In March of 2025, Charlene welcomed her miracle twins into the world at 36 weeks. But just nine days later, the family’s world was turned upside down. Savannah was rushed to the emergency room with blood in her stools. While that specific issue turned out to be a temporary scare, a routine scan led to an accidental, life-altering discovery: something was wrong with Savannah's kidneys.
Following extensive testing during a week-long hospital stay in October 2025, Savannah was officially diagnosed with Multicystic Dysplastic Kidney (MCDK) disease. Since that day, her daily routine has consisted of strict medication schedules, dietary restrictions, and specialized care from a dedicated medical team.
A Mother’s Sacrifice & The Financial Hurdle
Managing a complex medical condition for a newborn requires around-the-clock care. Because of the intense demands of Savannah’s medical needs, Charlene unfortunately lost her employment, which meant losing their medical aid coverage.
While Savannah has since been registered on a new medical aid, the family faces a critical hurdle: a 12-month waiting period due to her pre-existing condition. Right now, the mounting medical expenses rest entirely on Charlene’s shoulders during an already massive shift in their lives.
Despite the obstacles, Savannah remains a fearless, joyful little girl who inspires her mother daily.
