Klerksdorp-Tshepong Hospital has successfully performed a mitral valve replacement on 36-year-old Mosimanegape Jacobs from Vryburg.

The five-hour operation was carried out at Tshepong Hospital on 11 June 2026 by a multidisciplinary team led by Dr Taunyane.

A mitral valve replacement is performed when a damaged heart valve affects normal blood flow, often causing fatigue, shortness of breath and swelling.

Mr. Jacobs is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit and is expected to be discharged soon.

Hospital management described the procedure as another important milestone for specialised cardiac care in the North West.

Stunning! Did anyone else spot the sundogs yesterday?

Twanette shared this photo, taken between Potch and Stilfontein. The bright rainbow-coloured patches visible to the right and left of the setting sun are known as sundogs. This occurs when sunlight passes through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds, creating colourful bright spots on either side of the Sun.

Excellent service! Puma & OK Express Wilkoppies (Saamtrek) -
So on Thursday my last stop before going home was Puma Gagarge to get some bread and milk because the service here is always amazing. On Friday around 12h00 I decide to go to town and realized I can't find my wallet anywhere. Retracing my steps only to remember where I last used my bank card. So I made contact with the Manager at the Garage that said they will check the cameras 1st thing Saturday morning at 6h00 am because that when the other manager will be there, her name is Cherice. Well it's Saturday morning and 6h02 am my phone rings and it's Cherice informing me that Harry one of the petrol attendants saw me leaving the shop and when I left he saw that I dropped my wallet. Thinking I'll be back soon he kept it safe but I never came back because I did not even realized I dropped it.

So I just want to thank Harry, the Manager and Cherice for keeping it safe for me and going through the efforts in checking the footage of what might have happened. So when you stop at PUMA garage again across the road from Saamtrek please give Harry a high 5 because not everyone is this honest, and go and support this OK because they do have amazing and fresh products there." - Marius

It makes me so mad - it's still being temperamental!
FACEBOOK AND INSTAGRAM HIT BY GLOBAL OUTAGE

Millions of users worldwide reported problems accessing Facebook, Instagram and Messenger on Friday, with many unable to refresh feeds, log in or use certain features.

Meta confirmed the disruption and said teams were working to restore services. By Friday afternoon, many services were beginning to recover, although some users continued to report intermittent issues.

WATER SUPPLY RESTORATION UPDATE โ€“ JOUBERTON, ALABAMA, HARTEBEESFONTEIN, TIGANE AND SURROUNDING AREAS

The City of Matlosana Local Municipality would like to inform residents of a current water supply interruption affecting Jouberton, Alabama, Hartebeesfontein, Tigane, and other surrounding areas supplied through the Ellaton pump system.

The interruption is due to a damaged pump that has disrupted water supply to the affected areas. The technical team is on site and undertaking the necessary repairs. Water supply is expected to be restored tonight, 12 June 2026 at 18:00.

Affected Areas: Jouberton, Alabama, Hartebeesfontein, Tigane and surrounding areas

Residents are urged to use water sparingly and store sufficient water for essential use until supply is restored.

The municipality apologises for the inconvenience caused.
