🎭 A SPECIAL VISIT TO HULL STREET THEATRE

South African stage and screen legends Frank Opperman and Margit Meyer-Rödenbeck paid an emotional and memorable visit to the iconic 130-year-old Hull Street Theatre in Kimberley, ahead of their Youder Hartfees performance in the city.

Hull Street Theatre extends its heartfelt appreciation to Mr Jannie van Zyl for fostering such a progressive and meaningful partnership between the Theatre and the Hartfees.

This collaboration is a beautiful example of how the arts can build bridges, celebrate heritage, and bring exceptional theatre to Kimberley audiences.

EMSINI — A Jackson Shuping Tribute pays homage to the legendary Jackson Shuping through theatre, music, memory and powerful storytelling.

Join Thapelo Tsh*te Arts Development for an unforgettable theatrical tribute featuring Zandile Lucas, Thembani D**e, Tebogo Tladi and Thapelo Tsh*te, in a production written by Moagi Modise and directed by Mkhululi Z Mabija.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the honourees of the inaugural Northern Cape Filmmakers Roundtable, whose contributions during the 2025 edition of Northern Cape Film Week (NCFW) helped spark an important and much-needed conversation on strengthening partnerships to build a sustainable, competitive and thriving audiovisual sector in the Northern Cape.

Your insights, honesty and lived experience highlighted not only the immense opportunities within our province, but also the structural challenges that must be addressed if we are to unlock the full creative, cultural and economic potential of our industry. As committed during the Roundtable, we will be engaging with you in the coming weeks to ensure that these discussions lead to meaningful action and to jointly develop practical solutions for the sector.

HULL STREET THEATRE UNVEILS AN EXCITING SPRING-TO-FESTIVE SEASON AS IT CELEBRATES 130 YEARS OF THE PEOPLE'S THEATRE

Kimberley, Northern Cape – Hull Street Theatre is proud to announce its highly anticipated Spring to Festive Theatre Program, running from 3 September to 13 December 2026. This remarkable season celebrates 130 years of one of South Africa's most historic cultural landmarks—a theatre affectionately known as "The People's Theatre Where Wits University Started."

The season presents an exciting blend of drama, comedy, music, family entertainment, master classes, children's theatre and community productions, reaffirming Hull Street Theatre's commitment to developing audiences, nurturing talent and preserving South Africa's performing arts heritage.

"Our vision is to ensure that Hull Street Theatre remains a vibrant home for artists and audiences alike. This season reflects our commitment to celebrating local stories while creating opportunities for established and emerging artists to share the stage," said Thabo Motlhabi, Artistic Director of Hull Street Theatre.

Mr. JACKSON CASSIDY Music Workshop
It is an inspiring opportunity for established and aspiring musicians to learn from one of South Africa's respected music practitioners.
The Northern Cape’s first recording artist.

15–18 October
THE SUIT
The internationally celebrated South African classic returns to the stage in a compelling new production.

Kholofelo Kola Theatre Master Class
An intensive theatre training session for performers, directors, and theatre-makers.

Presented in loving memory of the late Kim Maruping, celebrating a legacy and love of storytelling.
