Manifestation meets the studio. 🌀🎨

​When Khakhalethu Gxiya (.khakha ) was asked which artist he looked up to and wanted to meet during his residency, he had one answer: Terence Ntsako Maluleke. No notes, no second choices. 🫡

​When the request went out, graciously welcomed us into his creative sanctuary for an afternoon of pure connection. There’s nothing quite like that raw, artist-to-artist synergy—just beautiful conversations, fresh perspectives, and a behind the scenes look at the creative process.

This is what the residency is all about, building bridges and fueling the practice.

One month in, and the real magic is happening behind the studio doors.

We hosted our very first critique session with Khakhalethu Gxiya (.khakha ) at his studio in the Ellis House Art Building. This is the raw, unedited part of the residency—where big ideas get tested, brushstrokes get questioned, and artists get braver.

Guided by the BNAP Foundation team, the energy in the room was unmatched. Honest, constructive feedback is the secret sauce to growth, and Khakhalethu is leaning all the way in as he refines his vision ahead of his highly anticipated solo exhibition at Everard Read Gallery Johannesburg. 🎨✨
